about the team

Jacques is based in Sandton, South Africa.

Founding member of Omega Photography in 2007.

a Self schooled photographer my work reflects and delivers an accurate interpretation of mood, and emotive balance through my images..

I’ve always looked at photographs as a moment captured in time. To be able to do just that, is what attracted me to photography.

I started out by experimenting in different areas & styles of photography but found my niche in Fashion and Artistic photography.

The knowledge that I can always improve & the positive feedback I get from clients and other people who view my work, is what motivates me.

Mark is based in Sandton, South Africa.

Born in Johannesburg, my interest in photography began when I was presented with a Kodak Brownie camera at the age of 8. Whilst at University, I developed a passion for photography and exclusively developed and printed my own black and white photos.

I later switched to colour slides, became a passionate landscape photographer and continued to process my own pictures, graduating to colour negative film. Marriage, travel and the arrival of children as well as business and social commitments dictated my involvement in photography. There were periods where I didn’t take my cameras out for months, but I always retained my interest and passion for the hobby.

During the 1980’s, when computer equipment started becoming a viable proposition for the man in the street, I realised that the future lay in that direction, bought myself a PC, and started learning the new science. I made it my business to stay up-to-date and was the prime motivator in introducing the technology and all its advancements into the several organisations that I was involved in.

As soon as they became available, I bought a digital camera and started having fun with it. Their development and improvement zoomed ahead and every few generations I would be tempted to go out and get the latest marvel.

For “serious” photography I still relied on my film SLR. Even when the first, very expensive, digital SLR’s appeared, I resisted the temptation and ultimately was only lured into the serious digital world when the Nikon D100 hit the shelves.

What a great experience to be able to see instant results, take many images and experiment without the expense that would occur with film, and to have prints in your hand latest next day.

Prompted by my trips into the superb nature opportunities that present themselves in a country like South Africa, as well as my intensive travel all over the world, I decided to re-educate myself and enrolled at the New York Institute of Photography in two courses, the course in professional photography and the complete course in Digital photography.

With over 50 years’ experience, and being semi-retired, I have merged with a younger photographer, Jacques Le Roux, under the name Omega Photography. A modern state of the art studio has recently been opened and most kind of photography is on offer.
